President Barack Obama spoke to the nation on Syria Tuesday night and, because of the timing of tapings, late-night show hosts got to discuss it Wednesday evening. The Tonight Show’s Jay Leno thought Obama looked confused, while Conan O’Brien’s producers put together a video of Obama indecisively exiting and entering every room in the White House after the speech. O’Brien also referenced Internet search results that showed pop star Miley Cyrus was a far more popular topic with users than Syria. In recapping the speech for those who didn’t watch, The Late Show’s David Letterman showed a cut up video of Obama calling Assad an expletive.
The possible deal with the Russians was also part of the late-night chatter. In noting the Syrian leader’s birthday Letterman said Bashar al-Assad received a gift of “saving his ass” from Russian leader Vladimir Putin, while Stephen Colbert used the opportunity to show the famed shirtless photo of Putin riding a horse.
Fast forward to 2:50 to see Colbert educate Obama on how to properly sell a Syrian intervention.
