Planning for 2012 Hike Haliburton Festival is in full stride. From Thursday, September 20th to Sunday, 23rd hundreds of people from near and far will take a hike in the Highlands. This is 10th year for the Festival and it promises to be the best one yet.[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]
“The Hike Haliburton Festival is a signature event for the County”, notes Maria Micallef, Tourism Coordinator. “We want to build on the success of last year’s Festival to offer an event that will benefit our local economy, environment, health, and lifestyles. We look forward to working with the community to help us realize its full potential. We will be making significant enhancements thanks to a Celebrate Ontario grant we have received. Extending the Festival by a day, a grand opening, entertainment, and celebrity hike leaders are some of new features that are being planned”.
The County Tourism Department is looking for assistance including volunteers to help with hikes, and volunteers for other festival activities. The Festival is looking for organizations or businesses who would like to sponsor a Festival event or activity. Organizers will also encourage other events planned for that weekend to be part of the Festival. Barrie Martin of Yours Outdoors has been contracted again to coordinate the Festival activities.
Individuals, organizations and businesses interested in being part of the Hike Haliburton Festival as a volunteer, a sponsor, or an event may contact Barrie Martin – 705-754-3436, email@example.com or Maria Micallef at 705-286-1777, firstname.lastname@example.org
