OPP – Charges laid in Bancroft assault

(Bancroft, Ontario)On Saturday April 21 the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious assault at an apartment located at 24 Hastings Street North in the Town of Bancroft.

One of the two adult suspects struck the 49-year-old male resident of the home with a weapon when the victim opened the door.  The victim received serious, non-life threatening injuries to areas of the head.  He was taken to the hospital and treated for his injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the Bancroft OPP have arrested and charged two males.

41-year-old Major Shawn Acorn of North Kawartha Township,Ontariohas been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Breach of probation – 2 counts
  • Breach of recognizance

34-year-old James McAllister ofNorthKawarthaTownshiphas been charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Assault with a weapon

Both males have been held in custody pending a bail hearing in Bellevillecourt on Thursday the 26th of April.
