OPP investigating murder near Coboconk – man in custody

OPP investigating a murder.

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON)– On Friday September 2, 2011 at approximately 10:00pm, officers from the City of KawarthaLakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an injured person at a residence near Coboconk.

Upon the arrival of police at the home, the lifeless body of a male was located with signs of trauma. The victim has since been taken from the scene to the Office of the Chief Coroner in Toronto where a post mortem examination will take place.

The investigation of this body led to the arrest of a male at another location near Coboconk, who has been charged with Second Degree Murder and has been remanded in custody.

This ongoing investigation is being conducted by Detectives from the City of Kawartha Lakes – Haliburton Highlands Criminal Investigations Unit, under the direction of Detective Inspector Martin Graham from the OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch, (CIB).

Due to a court imposed Publication Ban, the name of the victim and the accused cannot be released.
