OPP Caution Motorists To Be On the Look Out for School Buses
(HALIBURTON, ON) – The end of the summer season is fast approaching and with it we usher in a new school year. As motorists, we must keep a watchful eye for children who may be walking or cycling to and from school.[fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”yes” overflow=”visible”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”]
School buses will be reappearing on our roadways. These motor vehicles stop frequently and appear to drive slowly, but that is generally because they are adhering to the speed limit. These actions can frustrate some drivers.
Remember that school buses carry our most precious cargo – our children, and for that reason alone, when following a school bus please drive responsibly and not aggressively.
The officers of the Haliburton Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are reminding our motoring public, that passing a stopped school bus with its’ stop arm out and red lights flashing is an offence which could cost you $500.00 and 6 demerit points.
