Fatal ATV collision Highlands East – passenger Elizabeth Shannon dead driver injured

ATV accident fatality. OPP.

East Fire Department and ambulance services responded to the report of an ATV collision on McGillivary Road in theMunicipality of Highlands East.

Investigation revealed that the ATV left the road, entered the ditch and struck a fence and tree.  Both the driver and the passenger were not wearing a helmet.

 The female passenger, 41 year old Elizabeth Shannon of Peterborough,Ontario was transported to Quinte Healthcare North Hastings where she was pronounced dead.

 The male driver, 26 year old Dustin Turcotte of Highlands East sustained minor injuries.  Mr. Turcotte has been charged with not wearing an approved helmet, drive ATV with a passenger and careless driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.
