The RCMP have issued a full scale alert and a Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for David Wesley Bobbitt.
Bobbitt is described as white, about five feet seven inches tall and weighing around 180 pounds. He is clean shaven with brown eyes and brown hair that is balding.
As of Sunday, the victim was in hospital with serious injuries from which she was expected to recover.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the RCMP at 250-492-4300 or at Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
CBC reports from Penticton are remarkably detailed. The RCMP is cooperating fully with the national media.
CBC FILES: Mounties in B.C. are working closely with police forces countrywide to locate a 35-year-old man wanted in the wake of a brutal attack in Penticton, B.C.
Bobbitt, the operator of a second-hand store, is wanted on a charge of attempted murder after a 22-year-old woman was found tied up and brutally beaten inside his store early Sunday morning. The woman’s two-year-old child was found unharmed nearby.
RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said Mounties are working with police agencies across the country in case Bobbitt tries to flee British Columbia.
“He does not have a vehicle registered to him,” Moskaluk said.
“Notwithstanding that, he may have access to a vehicle. So… his whereabouts are unknown. We ask that if anybody were to see Mr. Bobbitt, to immediately contact their local police services via 911 and to not approach the individual.”
With the media attention the case is getting, Moskaluk said he does not believe Bobbitt will get very far.
“With national attention on this case, given its brutality, it’s going to be pretty difficult for Mr. David Wesley Bobbitt to move anywhere, and certainly we’re making every effort to locate this man.”
If you happen to spot this asshole?
You are asked to contact your local police. Please dial 911 and do not approach this lunatic sociopath.
That’s alleged lunatic sociopath.
