OPP Release Kawartha – OnTuesday July 26, 2011the City of Kawartha Lakes Crime Unitof the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested aPeterboroughman in regards to luring a child on the internet.
In January 2011 a report was received by the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP in regards to a young person having inappropriate conversation with an adult male. The matter was assigned to the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Crime Unitto investigate.
The investigation commenced and the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Section was contacted to assist.
Peterborough Lakefield Community Police and the OPP Electronic Crime Section also assisted in the investigation.
OnTuesday, July 26, 2011, after a six month investigation, Douglas Ralph Bronson, 51 years, of Peterboroughwas arrested and charged. The accused was arrested in Durham Region with the assistance of Durham Regional Police.
Bronson has been charged with Luring a Child via a computer – sexual exploitation (adult), Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 years of age, both contrary to the Criminal Code and will be appearing at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Lindsay later today.
A Criminal Code Search Warrant was executed at a residence inPeterboroughonTuesday July 26, 2011. Thumb drives, hard disks and other items pertinent to the investigation were seized.
