OPPs Project Longarm nabs another grow op in Bancroft

CDSA Search Warrant Executed in Bancroft July 5 – 2011

It’s summertime and as usual grass is a big problem – as we all know grass grows in Haliburton County!

On July 5th 2011, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) – Project Longarm and members of the Bancroft OPP Detachment executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence on Bridge Street West, Bancroft, Ontario.

An indoor marihuana grow was located as well as a quantity of prescription pills and cash was seized. Cary Greig, 39, has been charged with Production of Marihuana, Possession of a schedule I substance for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the CDSA and possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code. He was held for a bail hearing today in Belleville court.

Melanie Burnett, 22, has been charged with possession of marihuana under 30 grams contrary to the CDSA. She was released on a promise to appear and officer undertaking to appear in Bancroft court in August 2011.

The Investigation is continuing.
