Feb 4-6 weekend action
The senior girls’ volleyball team travelled to Barrie to compete in a tournament at Eastview Secondary School where they proceeded to the bronze playoff bracket. The team defeated Huntsville, winning each set by 2 points, and then posted 25-26 and 25-14 victories over Banting to win bronze.
The boys’ Red Hawk curling team of Jesse Walker, Owen Duhaime, Mike
Mazara, Tyler Warham, and Shawn Kadwell won the Gore School Boy Regionals and has advanced to the Provincials in Ottawa.
At the provincial wrestling championships, seven Red Hawk wrestlers competed against 550 wrestlers from across the province.

Bailey Walker placed sixth and Zane Zondervan placed fifth.  Special congratulations to Kayla Gardiner who earned the bronze medal with 5 wins and one loss to the eventual champion.

Monday, February 7
The Lady Hawk Hockey team travelled to Peterborough to take on the Griffons and came back with a 3-2 win.

Scoring for Haliburton was Megan Allore (2) and Julia Fedeski. Strong effort in goal as usual from Jillian Mayhew.
Tuesday, February 8
The men’s Red Hawk Hockey team improved their regular season record to 9-0 defeating Thomas A. Stewart by a score of 6-1.
The senior girls’ volleyball team competed in the Kawartha Qualifying tournament at Cobourg East where 5 wins against Clarke, Campbellford, Cobourg West, St. Mary’s and Brock and just 2 losses to Cobourg East and Port Hope enabled them to qualify for the upcoming Kawartha Championship.
The junior boys’ basketball team defeated the Brock Bulldogs with a convincing 58 – 26 victory.  Nate Feir, Louis Ferracuti, and Zack Cox scored 16, 14, and 12 points respectively.
The senior boys’ basketball team defeated Brock by a 67 – 30 score. Luke Watson had 20 points, Jesse Lefebvre had 12 points (2 slam dunks!), Jesse Walker scored 10 points, and Damon Flatman had 10 points.
Wednesday, February 9
The Nordic ski team competed in Lakefield where top finishers included Jillian Mayhew (2nd Novice Girls), Lindsey Pogue (3rd Novice Girls), and Josh Wright 5th in a very competitive senior boys category.
Thursday, February 10
The men’s Red Hawk hockey team defeated the Thomas A. Stewart Griffins
by a score of 6-2 to put the team’s record at 10-0 in league play.
The junior boys’ basketball team defeated the powerhouse I.E. Weldon Wildcats by a score of 34-31. Zack Cox led all HHSS scorers with 12 points, Nate Feir and Tanner Ballantyne had 9 each, and Louis Ferracuti and Preston Roberts finished out the scoring.
The junior girls’ volleyball team defeated teams from St. Thomas, Brock, Port Hope, Cobourg East, and Campbellford and suffered just two losses to St. Mary’s and Cobourg West as they qualified for the upcoming Kawartha championship.
